How Sufoc handles information
Sufoc iOS · 31 August 2026
Sufoc is a private book bay that stays on one iPhone. You scan or type an ISBN, photograph or import a jacket, keep a reading status, and optionally file a book card into Photos. There is no public shelf and no chat.
What stays on the phone
ISBNs, titles, jackets, spoken notes, the desk portrait, display name, Leaves balance, and filed cards are stored in on-device files. Sufoc does not run an account server and does not sell that material.
When the system asks for access
Sufoc asks only when you tap a control that needs it:
- Camera — Intake when you tap Scan barcode or Take cover, Desk when you tap Camera
- Photo library — Choose photo on Intake, Album on Desk, and File card on Intake
- Microphone — Speak note on Intake
- Notifications — after Continue, Apple’s system sheet
- Tracking preference — Apple’s App Tracking Transparency sheet after Continue. Sufoc does not use an advertising identifier to follow you into other companies’ apps or websites. Scanning a barcode, keeping a shelf card, and browsing Bay still work if you decline.
Apple purchases
Flyleaf Pack and other Leaves packs are consumable In-App Purchases. Apple processes payment. Sufoc does not see your full card number. Leaves live on this phone and are not restored after the app is removed or the bay is deleted.
Titles and notes
A local word check may reject a title or display name before it is saved. Sufoc does not publish books to other people.
Who else sees your jackets
Jackets, spoken notes, and filed cards are not uploaded to third-party automated analysis services.
Age
Sufoc is not aimed at children under 13. Use it only if you meet the minimum age in your region.
